About the Event
This is the third time I've been involved in Margaret River Region's Open Studios event. I find it's a great way to meet art lovers, fellow artists and visitors from around the world who converge on the region for a few weeks to enjoy all forms of visual arts in the homes of their creators!
Aside from painting, I’ve always loved landscape and street photography, but I’ve evolved over the last few years to capture artistic performances wherever I can; theatre, musicians, dancers, as they inspire my own creative process.
I study the performers' movements, their poses and positions, their colourful costumes and the details of their instruments. What I learn from taking photos, I then depict in watercolour or oil, trying to convey atmosphere, emotion and passion.
Music and dance are wonderful to experience, but once the performance is over, the memory slowly disappears from our minds. It’s my aim to create little pieces of joy that can permanently adorn the walls of our homes, keeping those positive feelings and memories alive.
